Reading Rainbow Update!

Our reading rainbow words have been updated on the class blog to include all levels.  Do not forget to always practice your rainbow words.  Let us know when your son/daughter is ready to be tested on their next level.  We now have many students who have their names up on our classroom rainbow!  Congratulations everyone!

Kindergarten Musical

Our Kindergarten musical was a success! We hope that you enjoyed our performance.  We would like to thank everyone who made our special day, and night, possible. Without your support and commitment to our program it wouldn't have been the success that it was! Thank you! :)

Book Orders!

Books orders have gone home today. Please have them submitted to our class by April 22, 2014.  Happy book shopping!

Funky Sock Day!

Tomorrow is Funky Sock Day! Wear your craziest socks in support of Down Syndrome awareness.  (March 21 = Third month, 21st day - three copies of the 21st chromosome). You can wear bright socks, mis-matched socks or many socks! Thank you for your support!

Friendship Day!

Tomorrow is Friendship Day! We will be celebrating the wonderful qualities that our peers possess.  Please feel free to bring in a treat (healthy, if possible!) to share with the class. We will be delivering friendship mail to our friends tomorrow and opening our mail bags in the afternoon.  To those who have written friendship cards, thank you very much! We know this can be a time consuming process. It is much appreciated!

Graphing

We are starting into our unit on graphing. In order to graph successfully, we have been practicing our sorting skills. We are learning the importance of labelling our graphs, using numbers (on the y axis, for now), and including a title. You can practice graphing at home with your son/daughter by having them sort a variety of objects and then placing them on a blank graph template.

Rainbow Words!

Our Reading Rainbow words are now posted on our website. Senior kindergartens have received rainbow cards that they are to use throughout the year to practice. You can use these cards in a variety of ways. Use them to play hide and seek, as flashcards, or as a memory game. Junior kindergartens will soon be getting reading rainbow booklets containing these words. For now, there is an outline of our reading rainbow levels posted under the "Reading Rainbow" tab on our homepage.  Happy reading!
