Pajama Day!
Tuesday, 3 December 2013
"Jake" Frost
In the spirit of the winter season, Jake Frost has arrived in our classroom! Jake Frost is a mythical creature who arrived to us today (December 3, 2013) from an unknown location. Students will soon learn that Jake is the brother of Jack Frost and that Jake feels as though he is living in the shadows of his famous brother. Jake sometimes does silly things as a means of getting attention. Through a message left by our mystery guest today, we have learned that he has come to observe our classroom and the fantastic sharing, kind words and caring gestures that happen within it. Our classroom was chosen specifically for him. Word is spreading that everyone in our room is doing such a great job cooperating and sharing. Jake's purpose is to learn how to make others, and himself, feel great about who they are.
If you have any questions or concerns about Jake's visit to our classroom, please feel free to contact Ms. Magill or Mrs. Morrow and we would be happy to discuss them with you.

Reading Buddies!
Our class has matched up with Ms. Debney's Grade 7/8 class to be our reading buddies and mentors. Each kindergarten student has been carefully matched to one of the Grade 7/8 students. Reading buddies meet once a week to read stories together. Last week our reading buddies helped us walk around the school to look at all of the hard work our school had done to prepare for Maple Grove's 50th anniversary. Please ask your son/daughter about their reading buddies!

Maple Grove's 50th Picture
Tomorrow, October 18th, Maple Grove will gather on the field to take a picture of the entire student population. We will form the number 50 and have our picture taken from an ariel camera. Our school colours are green and gold. Because the grass is already green, we are asking students to dress in yellow (or gold if possible) and black or white. This is a last minute post so please do not feel obligated to find these colours for tomorrow! Only if it is convenient!
Thank you very much! Hope to see you all out for our 50th celebration on Saturday from 12pm - 4pm.

Harvest Soup
Harvest Soup!
"Bring what you've got. Put it in the pot. We are making harvest soup!"
Thank you to all of those who donated ingredients for our harvest soup. Today we talked about healthy ingredients and how we make soup. Each student contributed to our soup by adding some of the ingredients. After it had cooked, everyone had a chance to have a cup of our harvest soup! Please ask your son/daughter about all of the healthy vegetables that they tried today. Everyone did a great job trying the soup. Almost everyone finished their soup, and some even asked for more!
